The past few months of my life have been mind blowing! From working 2 jobs and finishing up massage therapy school to expecting a baby, life has been pushing me to the max.
One thing that I am very thankful for in my life is the support structure around me. Last weekend I had the opportunity to attend the Elite Training Workshop With Mike Reinold, Tony Gentilcore ,Artemis, and Ryan Ketchum. For the first time in my life I was in the back chatting instead of in the audience. I was sharing my experiences as well as listening to advice they had when they first started out, and how I could continue on a path to success.
Of Course, their advice had me thinking a lot, and it made me realize that a strong support structure is key to a happy and successful life. The team at Cressey Sports Performance has taken me under their wing, made me part of the team and more importantly part of a great family. Even though I left the Marine Corps 4 years ago, it feels like I acquired a whole other family.
You are the average of 5 people you surround yourself with – Jim Rohn
When it comes to success, you have to be selective about the people around you and how they influence your life. Just yesterday, during a Big 3 Seminar put on by The Strength House, I was talking with Artemis and Eric of Iron Body about struggles in life and how they managed to fight through tough times to make it where they are today. While we had different backgrounds, there were tons of similarities between us that I may have overlooked.
What am I getting at?
When it comes to relationships, we are greatly influenced by those we spend our time with the most, and the people you spend your time with matter the most.
Stop aiming to be the smartest person in the room, and surround yourself with people who will challenge you, make you better, and support you when you need it the most. If you want to be successful, you must know who your support structure is and now how they influence your everyday life.
The number one influence in my life right is my wife. Not only does she support me in every way, but she constantly challenges me and pushes me to keep me on track. If it wasn’t for her over the past 4 years of my life, I probably would not be where I was today.
I challenge you to write down the 5 most influencial people in your life that you spend time with. try ranking them from the top down, and see if they truly make you feel better throughout life.
Don’t forget to thank those people, and let them know how special they are and how much they have helped your become the person you have become.
