It’s the end of the year and that means people are starting to think about what they accomplished in 2016 and where they would like their life to be in the coming year. As a fitness professional this can be both great and frustrating.
Great because people are flocking to coaches everywhere to train hard and get going on the right path.
Tough because many of these same people that started off with good intentions often find themselves off the beaten path due to unforeseen obstacles and life challenges.
While it is important to have a set of goals in place to help you go after what you want, you can do so much better by being real with yourself.

NEW POST!! Link in Bio. Stop making excuses for yourself! Everyone has 24 hours in a day, and it's what you are willing to do with it that makes or breaks your success #success #personaltrainer #personaltraining #wisdom #newyear #equinoxmademedoit #equinox #strength #discipline #findyouradventure #purposedrivenlife #startwithwhy #2017goals #coach #hardwork #cspfamily
What Do You Want To Experience? What things would you like to do this year that you have never done before? How do you want to feel when you are doing it? For me this is stepping outside my comfort zone by learning new skills, speaking more in person and on camera, and just trying reach as many people as I can. This means posting constantly to social media, writing more, and going to seminars that I have never gone to. Whatever it is that you want to experience, think to yourself about what it looks like for yourself and truly immerse yourself into the culture and environment you want to be in.
Where Do You Want To Go? This can mean almost anything depending on how you view it. Pick a place you have always wanted to go to and make a commitment to get there. Want to quit the job you hate and start a new career, what you are waiting for? Want to move to sunny California? What do you have to lose? While I understand that things are not always as easy as they may seem, you only have one life and 24 hours in a day. What you choose to do with those 24 hours can make or break your success.
What Do You Want To Learn? What are your strengths and weaknesses? How can you improve on both of them? The Marine Corps always taught me to know thyself and seek self improvement. Go out there and tackle those weaknesses and keep getting better at what you already know. Better yet, what have you always been curious about that you never took the time to learn? There is no better time to learn, so what are you waiting for?
How Do You Want To Change? How are you going to be different this year? I’m going to try to be a better husband and father. 2016 was a tough transformation for me as I was struggling to figure out how to be both of these at the same time. What do you want to overcome to be a better person? Will you make a behavior change? Will you let your ego aside to become a better person?
In 2016, I started out with a lot of hopes and dreams and then fatherhood hit me and life became a blur and a challenge. I learned a lot of new things over the past 12 months and am excited to crush 2017. While most of us know these things already, knowing them is not enough, it is how you put everything to action that truly makes a difference. The choice is ultimately up to you.
